Your Sculptra session is an in-office procedure that typically takes 30 to 45 minutes. After a thorough facial analysis to identify areas of volume depletion, the treatment area is cleansed and often numbed with a topical anesthetic or a lidocaine-mixed solution for your comfort.
Sculptra is administered through a series of precise injections using a fine needle or a cannula. Because the PLLA is suspended in sterile water, you may see an immediate "preview" of the volume, which will dissipate within 24 to 48 hours as the water is absorbed. This is normal; the true work of collagen building begins in the weeks following your appointment. Most patients require a series of three injection sessions spaced about four to six weeks apart to achieve optimal results.

The most important part of your recovery is the "Rule of 5s": Dr. Ronan recommends massaging the treated areas for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days after treatment. This ensures the Sculptra particles are evenly distributed and helps prevent the formation of small nodules under the skin.
