Laser Hair Removal
We offer the Cutera Coolglide laser for permanent hair reduction in men and women. The Coolglide laser can be used on all skin types, from light to dark, including tanned patients.
Typical areas treated include the face, legs, bikini areas, underarms, back, chest, etc. Nearly any area with unwanted hair can be treated.
The typical patient will need about 3-5 treatments at 6 week intervals. The normal hair cycle involves an active growth phase (anagen), a rest preparation phase (catagen) and a quiet resting phase (telogen). The laser targets hair follicles in the active growth phase, inactivating many permanently. Since not all of the follicles are in the active phase all of the time, multiple treatments are necessary.
The procedure is done without need for anesthesia. Sometimes, a topical is used for sensitive areas if the patient desires. Following the treatment, the skin may appear a bit red and swollen. Over the course of a week, you may notice that hair shafts fall out.
