Q&A with Stephen J. Ronan FACS, MD

What makes Blackhawk Plastic Surgery different from other plastic surgery centers in the area?

A number of things; first is our staff. Some of our team have been here for over a decade. We have very little turnover, which makes our practice extremely efficient and creates a nice atmosphere for our patients. Second is our surgery center. Blackhawk Plastic Surgery has one of the nicest accredited surgery centers in the Bay Area. There is a reason Blackhawk Plastic Surgery has been rated “Best in the Bay” for plastic surgery several years in a row. As a surgeon, I strive to give my patients the smallest incision possible, a shorter healing time, and results that look normal and natural. Blackhawk Plastic Surgery has very high customer retention and repeat business and when people come in for follow up appointments, they almost always have big smiles on their faces.

What are the most popular procedures at Blackhawk Plastic Surgery?

Breast Augmentations, Face Lifts, Tummy Tucks, Rhinoplasty (Nose Job) and Hair Transplantation.

What kind of advice would you give to someone considering plastic surgery and who makes the best candidate for surgery?

First and foremost, find a board-certified plastic surgeon that works in an accredited surgery center with a demonstrated track record for success. Also, make sure the surgeon specializes in the kind surgery you are looking for. A good surgery candidate would be relatively healthy and have realistic expectations for the results of the procedure.

When did you know you wanted to be a surgeon?

I’ve known I wanted to work in medicine since I was in grammar school. I decided to specialize in plastic surgery in my third year of medical school. I was attracted to plastic surgery because is it requires very sophisticated techniques and principles and there is a lot of problem solving. Overall, my patients are healthy and happy and I have fun going to work everyday.
