Did you know that more than 71% of all women in the United States are dissatisfied to some extent with the appearance of their breasts? And while many women wonder how they can achieve more perky and youthful looking breasts, getting perky breasts could prove to be more challenging than you would expect.

Gravity naturally pulls breasts down against the rib cage. Additionally, you lose skin elasticity as you age. Pregnancy and significant fluctuations in weight can also add volume to the breasts. This makes them heavier and more likely to droop and can result in an overall more matronly look to your body. In some cases, breasts can droop and stretch so much that they develop stretch marks and can lead to back and neck pain.

Fortunately, there are options and surgical procedures available that can address many of these issues, and ultimately improve the appearance of your breasts.  Of course, your options will be based on the natural size and shape of your breasts and your desired outcome. Keep reading to learn more about your options to achieve more youthful and perkier breasts.

Avoid Expensive Treatments That Don’t Work

There are many creams and lotions on the market that claim to be able to reshape breasts in some way. When browsing online for ways to change or improve the shape of your breasts, you are likely to find all sorts of breast lifting lotions, treatments, and over the counter remedies.

For example, some topical creams claim that they can add volume to sagging breasts or tighten the skin and tissue that makes up the breasts. Some might even claim that they can increase your breast size by several cup sizes. Others reveal that they can add collagen back into the breasts and make them look younger than ever.

Most of these claims are completely false and have no scientific backing. Most of these products are also very expensive and require extended use to achieve desirable results. You buy, you try and you are disappointed with the results, but still hopeful.  So you buy and spend more.

If for whatever reason you choose to go this topical or over the counter route, you will most likely waste time and money, and end with the same breasts you started with.

To prevent these disappointments, it is best to steer clear of any over the counter products that claim to do amazing things with the shape of your breasts. There is currently no type of lotion or cream or contraption that has the ability to change the size or shape of a person’s breasts. Yes, some creams may soften the skin enveloping the breasts, but that’s about all the good you will get from them.

Wear the Right Bra for Your Breasts

Many people believe that a bra that gives maximum support is the best type of bra to wear for preserving the natural position of your breasts. While it may sound counterintuitive, this is not necessarily the case.

Your breast tissue is attached to muscle at the front of your ribcage. Without a bra, these muscles will strengthen themselves by holding up the weight of your breasts. This, in turn, helps to keep the breasts in place and lessens the chance of sagging or stretching.

When you wear a bra that supports most if not all of the weight of your breasts, the muscles supporting your breasts will start to weaken. Eventually, the muscles may become so weak that your breasts will start drooping more quickly over time because they have no natural support. Fortunately, you can address this issue by wearing the right bra.

Instead of wearing a bra that provides complete support, try experimenting with bras that provide a bit less support. This might be difficult if your breasts are large. However, wearing these bras will slowly strengthen your chest muscles which will, in turn, provide more support to your breasts.

You should also avoid wearing bras when you sleep. Wearing a bra overnight can contribute to the weakening of your chest muscles. Wearing a very supportive or tight bra at night can also damage your breast tissue over time if you’re not careful.

On days when you don’t plan to leave the house for an extended period of time try walking around without a bra. Your breasts won’t become perky overnight, but slowly and gradually the muscles in your chest will strengthen and provide more support to your breasts.

Losing Weight

Many women can prolong the youthful and perky the appearance of their breasts by simply maintaining a healthy, body-proportionate weight.  By maintaining a healthy weight, your breast tissue and fat cells do not endure the fluctuation of growing and shrinking.

Breast can begin to droop when there’s a large increase and then loss of volume.  Most women who have breastfed will experience this to some degree. And while the skin of the breasts will shrink back somewhat, it is unlikely that they will become as firm or perky are they originally were.

Your body weight is also an important factor when it comes to the shape of your breasts. The heavier you are, the heavier your breasts are likely to be. Heavier breasts, of course, are far more prone to be pulled down by gravity more quickly over time. Losing weight can help, but it will not prevent the sagging that has already occurred.

While it might be difficult, losing weight or maintaining a healthy weight is important for keeping drooping breasts to a minimum.  Staying a consistent weight is really one of the best ways to keep your natural breasts in great shape.

But what if you get older, lose weight and find that your breasts are in a much lower position than before? That’s when a breast lift and/or a breast augmentation surgical procedure can help. What is a breast lift and augmentation exactly? Read on.

What You Need to Know About Breast Lift and Augmentation Surgery

Breast surgery may sound like a drastic approach to some people, but it really isn’t as big of procedure as you might expect. In fact, hundreds of thousands of women get breast surgery in the U.S. each year and the vast majority are very happy with the results. If you’ve been unhappy with the appearance of your breasts for a period of time and don’t know what to do to address the problem, breast surgery may be a great option for you.

Breast augmentation can actually mean several different things for your breasts. A breast augmentation is sometimes known as a “boob job.” When you hear about boob jobs, you might think of simply making your breasts larger. However, this is not the only outcome of breast augmentation surgery.

Of course, if you want perky breasts, you won’t necessarily want larger breasts. While augmentation will fill out your breasts pocket, it will not necessarily make them higher.

The outcome of a breast augmentation procedure will depend on the current state of your breasts and what you and your surgeon will determine to be the desired results. Suppose that your breasts have sagged due to breastfeeding or being overweight. There are several ways to fix this problem and give your breasts a more youthful look.

Altering Your Breasts

Your surgeon will determine what the best protocol will be to achieve your desired outcome. For example, it may be necessary to remove some excess breast tissue and skin if your breasts have been stretched out, which may have also increased the size of your areolas as well (the pigmented skin surrounding the nipples).

If this is the case, your surgeon may also suggest reshaping the areola to make it smaller and in a more anatomically correct position . Also, if your breasts are very saggy and lacking volume, it may be necessary to add volume back into the breasts. This is often done with breast implants.

Keep in mind that you do not need large breast implants to get perky breasts. Rather, something proportionate to fill out the breast pocket and replace breast tissue that has been lost or removed from surgery. Small and moderate breast implants can make a huge difference, even though the implants themselves may not seem very significant.

If you don’t like the idea of implants, you may also be able to remove fat from another area of your body and transfer it to your breasts. Many more women are starting to prefer this method, called fat grafting or fat transfer, for a variety of reasons.

For example, if you transfer fat from your abdomen and flank area to use for your breasts, your waist will be slimmer and your breasts will be fuller. More than that, using your own fat to add volume to your breasts will provide a  natural look, feel, and shape compared to some breast implant.. although most modern-day implants provide very realistic results as well.

But what should you expect when going in for breast surgery?

What to Expect From Breast Surgery

The first step is to schedule a consultation with your surgeon. Your surgeon will look at the current state of your breasts and determine the best course of action to achieve the look you want.

If your goal is to have perky and more youthful breasts, you should make this clear during your initial consultation. Your surgeon will also tell you what kind of results are realistic and what you might not be able to achieve from the surgery.

You should also discuss if you are on any medications such as blood thinners or if you have any past or present health conditions. After confirming that you are a candidate to undergo breast augmentation and/or breast lift surgery, you will then schedule your pre-operative appointment and surgery.

The Procedure

During the procedure, your surgeon will work to bring symmetry and balance to your breasts. Breast tissue is then shaped into a soft slope and a breast implant, if indicated, is positioned into a newly formed pocket underneath the chest muscle. If required, your surgeon will then replicate a smaller, more proportionately shaped areola prior to closing the breasts when finished. The entire duration of the procedure will vary according to how much work needs to be done. Usually, it will take one to two hours and is completed under general anesthesia.

When the procedure is done, you will need to follow your surgeon’s post-operative directions and allow time to properly heal before returning to work and normal activities. If your healing period is shortened or interfered with, you risk developing a complication, such as infection, and the result of the surgery might not be ideal. For that reason, it is very important to adhere to all of your surgeon’s instructions.

Your doctor will give you advice on how to take care of your body as it heals, including how to clean your incisions, how often to change your bandages, and when it is safe to return to work and resume your normal routine. After a month or so, any incisions should be mostly healed. There may still be some swelling present, but by that point, you will be able to admire the results of the surgery.

All About Getting Perky Breasts

Achieving perky breasts can be easy to difficult, depending on the current shape and condition of your breasts. To obtain a more youthful look, your breasts need to have enough volume to perk up on their own. You can accomplish this maintaining a healthy body weight, using a bra that provides the right about of support, and in some cases and where indicated, by getting a fat transfer, breast augmentation, and/or breast lift surgery. The one sure-fire way to not get perkier breasts is to buy expensive over the counter or online potions, lotions and empty promises.
