Facelifts and other facial plastic surgeries are delicate operations that can rejuvenate and renew the appearance of your face, giving you a fresh look and a boost in self-confidence.
Multiple facial procedures can be performed in a single appointment, so you can enjoy the benefits of a single recovery period instead of prolonged rest and time away from work. A facelift may be combined with rhinoplasty and chin augmentation to even out the proportions of the face. Below are a few expectations for your post-operative recovery.
- Reduced Activity: During your recovery period from a facelift or other facial procedure, you can expect a time of limited physical exertion while you rest and your tissue recovers. Take this time to simply relax and allow your body to heal. Your surgeon will offer painkillers to minimize your discomfort and antibiotics as a preventative measure.
- Swelling: You can expect minimal swelling and bruising with a facelift, but this a normal reaction, which usually lessens soon after the procedure. More involved procedures may cause minimal discomfort, as with any surgery, but will quickly alleviate. Swelling should not be excessive and is a part of the natural healing process.
- Two to Three Weeks’ Recovery: Depending on your procedure, you can expect to have a few weeks’ rest at home. It’s a good idea to have family or friends around to assist you with small tasks—be sure to listen to your surgeon’s instructions and do not engage in strenuous activity. You’ll want to avoid facial flushing, elevated body temperature, exertion, or bending down.
