What Happens During Buttock Augmentation Surgery?
Your plastic surgeon will begin by providing either IV sedation or general anesthesia, depending on your unique needs. You won’t feel anything, and most likely will not remember anything about the surgery. Your surgeon will perform liposuction on various areas of your body, which you will have discussed prior to surgery.
Once this fat is harvested and processed, your plastic surgeon will begin injecting it at multiple sites along your buttocks. This is as much an art as it is a skill, as even tiny injections can produce significant changes; your surgeon must be able to envision the proper shape and balance for optimal results. When the injections are completed, sedation or anesthesia will be ceased, a special support garment will be placed, and you’ll be ready for your post-op instructions and recovery.
What Happens After Buttock Augmentation Surgery?
You’ll probably be sent home within a few hours after your surgery, provided there are no special complications. You will need to wear your support garment for as long as your surgeon instructs. Be sure to keep follow-up appointments and follow post-surgical instructions rigidly. You’ll be able to see the results immediately, but do take note that buttock projection will decrease as swelling decreases and the new fat becomes integrated in the area.
